In 2023 we began production of the first models of a new series that we then called AQUA II. The reason for the name is that it would replace the classic AQUA series as our range of high-end rods, entirely manufactured and assembled in Spain, and at an affordable price. But talking to our clients we realized that the continuity of the name was confused with a continuity of the technology. As the blanks of the new series are not actually derived in any way from the old AQUA ones but rather use new designs based on a modern evolution of our advanced multi-layer technology, we have given them a new name: Maxia LS. In case anyone is curious, the initials are the initials of Lucky Series, and the name is due to the fact that the only two blanks that survived baking intact after an error in the application of release agent on the mandrels of a batch of diverse blanks, were the first two prototypes of this series. We hope that they continue to have the good fortune that accompanied them at birth throughout their lives.
In 2024, the LS series has multiplied and has a good number of models that cover almost all types of fly fishing. In general, they are rods that combine the sensitivity that we have maximized in the SX and SXP ranges with the power that was the hallmark of the MX. Assembled with high quality materials, designed to provide good service for a long time, depending on the model they use resistant TiCH or light Hopkins and Holloway rings, or a combination of both, handles made in Portugal with Iberian cork, 5052 aluminum reel seat, resistant saltwater, machined and anodized (the design may vary depending on the model), and an elegant and careful assembly that has nothing to envy of our highest-end rods.
Dry Fly
Rods designed to handle floating lines. Fast action that facilitates the formation of sharp loops and the extension of long lines with floating flies that have high wind resistance. Four models: LS 763 7'6'' #3-4 - An extraordinarily light and manageable rod. A good tool for small rivers that, with a #2 line, is perfectly valid for TLT casting. LS 863 8'6'' #3-4 - The length that not too long ago was considered the standard for dry flies, and that some anglers continue to appreciate for the ease of handling and the greater precision that this measurement provides compared to more rods. long. In a light version and with a wide power range that makes it suitable for the vast majority of trout rivers in Europe. LS 903 9' #3-4 - The size and power of what Spanish fishermen of the last thirty years considered the dry fly rod par excellence, in a modern version with the advantages of the most current technology and materials. LS 905 9' #5-6 - Similar to the previous model with extra power, designed for when we have to face more powerful fish. Also suitable for launching streamers with intermediate lines.
Multipurpose
Rods suitable for both dry fly and nymph, or tandem. Four models: LS 961 9'6'' #2-1 - An amazing toy that allows you to cast with hardly any effort with ultralight lines and that allows us to enjoy fly fishing without having to find the only large trout in the river. If we usually fish in waters where small fish abound, this rod may be perfect for us. LS 963 9'6'' #3-4 - The size and power that was most successful in our Aqua series, now in four sections and with all the advantages of the LS series LS 965 9'6'' #5-6 - Similar to the previous model with extra power, designed for when we have to face more powerful fish. Also suitable for launching streamers with intermediate lines. A good choice for dry fly or streamer fishing in many of the best trout rivers in Chile or Argentina. LS 1003 10' #3-4 - If we want to combine dry fly fishing and nymph fishing in similar proportions and we do not want to carry two rods, this may be the best choice. A rod fast enough to easily cast a dry fly forming good, sharp loops and sensitive enough to propel a light nymph, either on the line or with a nymph line and extra long leader.
Nymph
LS 10'6'' #1, 3 and 5 and 11' # 2, 3 and 4 - There are six specific LS models for nymph fishing, and we do not believe it is necessary to describe them individually. All of them are designed with the experience of almost thirty years manufacturing this type of rods, seeking the best balance between a sensitive tip and a powerful heel without sacrificing precision and without the angler's arm suffering too much. Two lengths, ten and a half feet and eleven feet, to be able to choose according to our preferences a more precise and lighter model or a model that facilitates control of the nymph at a greater distance. Wide range of powers, with ultralight models (#2-1 and #1-2, taking into account that the numbering that goes first is what it would have if the label only had a line number), medium (#2- 3 and #3-4), and a medium-heavy model (#4-5) in the length of 10'6'' that, in addition to being useful for the largest trout in our rivers, we could also use for lake nymph fishing. with floating or intermediate lines.
Lake
LS 10' #6, 7 and 8 and 10'3'' #5, 6 and 7 - Six lake models in two lengths. The standard 10' is offered in the most common powers, from #6 designed for casting floating and intermediate lines to #8 for fast sinking lines. The longest size, 10'3'', is especially recommended to stronger casters or those who have enough technique to be able to deal with the problems of handling a longer rod, which on the other hand has the advantages of better control. of the fly in the water and a greater height of the line above the ground in false casts.
